STANDARDS:-

We took our beautiful standard mare, CorleyOak Every Cloud (aka Bailey) to Alrewas Show on 21st July and were delighted when she won her class, then stood Champion Standard and then Overall Shetland Champion.

Wernfeilig Natasha (Poppy)
Bay filly - d.o.b. 10.05.23
Sire: Degai Rhys
Dam: Seva Nerys

The children of this pony's former owners named her Poppy, so she is keeping her field name which suits her very well.  She is a lovely pony with the prettiest face and a lovely front on her.  She looked very worried when left on her own at the sales, so a lot of reassurance was given and we seem to have bonded.  We just love her.   She has settled down really well at home and we look forward to getting her into the show ring in the spring.

Poppy is now out with the rest of the herd, although not  yet fully accepted (it takes a few weeks).  Fortunately, she has Wernfeilig Destiny with her, so the two of them keep each other company.

Penelope's Prosecco (Ghost)
Cremello Mare d.o.b. 26.04.2017

Sire: Sugerreef Navaho
Dam: Bluefields Penelope

Ghost is a sweet, kind, ridden pony and would make a wonderful family pet for some lucky child at some point.  However, we are hoping to send her to a stallion next spring and have a foal before we part with her.

What a saga!!  We bought Ghost and her filly foal Spirit unseen in October 2022.  The filly started to grow like a weed and I joked "I think we have a Clydesdale here" due to the blaze on her face and the amount of feather that was appearing!  Eventually, it was obvious to us that this filly was NOT a pure shetland as a dna test proved.  On contacting the breeder it was eventually disclosed that the true sire was a Clydesdale x Irish draft standing at 16 hands!!  Ghost is about 39".

The shetland pony passport had to be returned to the Society and a new Pet-ID passport arranged.  This turned out to be problematic as the Scottish Government had never before had to remove a pony from their database,  but we got there eventually.

The filly (Spirit) went to a lovely family home at the beginning of June.  More about her on the "our other horses" page!

CorleyOak Every Cloud (Bailey)

Black filly: d.o.b. 27.04.18
Sire: isle of Mona Sherlock
Dam: Isle of Mona Fflam

We are very proud of our filly, Bailey, pictured above as a yearling at the Shetland Performance Show at Three Counties Show Ground and at the very top as a mature five year old.. We were looking forward to showing her as a two year old in 2020 but unfortunately Covid-19 put paid to that!  We were finally able to get her out in 2023 to Alrewas Show where she won her class and stood Reserve Standard Champion.  In 2024, at the same show, Bailey went one better and won her class, stood standard champion and then overall shetland champion.  Bailey is our pride and joy.  She is the herd boss but is super friendly and very much enjoys human company.  At the moment she looks like a muddy, woolly bear, but as can be seen from the top picture, Bailey scrubs up rather well!

Cranford Juggernaut (Jugsy)

Chestnut tobiano gelding: d.o.b. 23.05.10
Sire: Gwyddelfynydd Elvis
Dam: Waulkmill Jubilea

"Jugsy" is also our pride and joy. He has the most loving, laid-back temperament ever - sometimes just that bit too laid back in the show ring! He will turn his hoof to anything and so far has done well in the show ring, gaining a 2nd at the SPSBS Breed Show at Harrogate in 2014 (above) and standing Gelding Champion at the Shetland Performance Show in Malvern on 12th July 2015. He has taken part in a toddlers' nativity play INSIDE our local church on Christmas Eve, is a handy-pony expert (nothing fazes him) and has even taken part in a gymkhana with our toddler grandson. Lately he has taken to leid-rein show-jumping which he appears to relish. Bombproof doesn't even come close to describing him. We love him to bits. He's very special. Below is a picture of him at the Performance Show. It has to be said that Jugsy isn't really a fan of showing. He's rather be doing handy pony or eating, the latter being his favourite pastime. During lockdown the battle has been to keep weight off him!

Musselbrough Fiola (Lola)

Chestnut tobiano filly - d.o.b. 23.04.17
Sire: Musselbrough Keltic
Dam: Zara of Musselbrough

Lola, our spur-of-the-moment Reading sales purchase. She was a little wary of us at first, but now she is very confident and very, very friendly. She will make a lovely riding pony.

Cwmgwaun Lily Rose (Lulu)

Blue dun filly - d.o.b. 22.05.20
Sire: Halstock Geronimo
Dam: Cwmgwaun Berry

As mentioned, Lulu is no longer a mini. She is likely to reach 40" unless she stops growing now! She is a lovely stamp of pony with a fantastic front on her.

It seems so hard to get a good picture of a shetland pony! This picture doesn't really convey the quality of Lulu.
